1. Get to Know Your Hair

Before building a routine, take a moment to understand what your hair is asking for. Every crown has unique needs and healthy hair starts with listening.

Dry

Is your hair excessively dry?

Take a moment to run your fingers through your hair. Notice if it feels rough, brittle, or excessively dry, as these can be signs of lack of moisture.

When it comes to hair growth and maintaining healthy strands, a major factor is moisture. Without proper moisture, your hair can become dry, brittle and prone to breakage.  In this case, the goal is to use moisturizing products and lock in moisture.

Weak

Is your hair limp or weak?

Take a strand of hair and gently stretch it. If it stretches easily and returns to its original length without breaking, your hair likely has enough protein. However, if the strand breaks or doesn't stretch much, it may be protein deficient. Without a good balance of protein and moisture, your hair can be weak, limp and dull.

In this case, the goal is to combat a lack of protein by including more protein-rich foods into your diet and also adding hair care products formulated with proteins like keratin or collagen to your hair care routine.

Thin

Is your hair thinning?

Whether it's excessive shedding or hair loss, hair thinning is when you lose hair at the root. It’s important to note that everyone goes through some level of hair loss that is totally normal—in fact, we lose up to 100 strands of hair a day. However, hair loss becomes concerning when it's excessive.

Hair loss often happens due to major lifestyle changes, such as hormonal, medications, or stress. In this case, the goal is to promote new hair growth at the scalp (in addition to eliminating the trigger, if possible).

Breaking

Is your hair breaking off?

Hair breakage is the result of physical or chemical damage to the hair. Hair breakage occurs when strands of your hair break, often splitting near the ends. It can be caused by poor hair care habits, tight styling, dryness or other factors.

Hair breakage is often temporary. Your hair will grow back. However, once hair is broken, the damage on these strands is not reversible. You cannot “fix” broken hair. In this case, the goal is to use caution when styling and promote new hair growth (in addition to eliminating the cause of the damage).

2. Build a Routine That Loves You Back

Healthy hair doesn’t require perfection — just consistency. A simple routine built around cleansing, conditioning, and moisture will support your hair through every season.

How often will you...

Cleanse

Start with a gentle shampoo or cleanser to remove buildup while keeping your scalp balanced. A clean foundation helps your hair thrive.

Protect

Preserve your hair at night with a satin bonnet or pillowcase. Gentle protection helps retain moisture and prevents unnecessary friction.

Condition

Always follow cleansing with conditioner or a deep treatment. This step restores moisture, improves softness, and helps prevent tangles.

Treat

Pay attention to what your hair needs — whether it’s a scalp massage, protein support, or extra hydration. Treating your hair is an act of care, not correction.

Moisturize

Hydration is the key to healthy strands. Use a leave-in conditioner or cream, then seal with an oil or butter to lock in moisture.

Style

Choose low-stress styles that support your goals. Protective and low-manipulation looks help reduce breakage while keeping hair healthy.

The 10 Hair Love Rules

A gentle guide to caring for your crown with intention and consistency.

Rule #1

RULE #1 (Keep a routine your hair can trust)

Healthy hair thrives on consistency. Choose a simple weekly rhythm (wash day, conditioning, moisturizing, styling) and stick with it long enough for your hair to respond.

RULE #2 (Start with a healthy scalp)

Hair growth begins at the root. Cleanse your scalp regularly, massage gently with your fingertips, and avoid heavy buildup that can block follicles.

Rule #2

Rule #3

RULE #3 (Detangle with patience, not force)

Always detangle on damp hair with conditioner or slip. Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends and slowly working upward to prevent breakage.

RULE #4 (Deep condition like it’s non-negotiable)

Moisture treatments help improve softness, elasticity, and strength. Deep condition weekly or biweekly, and use heat (like a cap) for better absorption.

Rule #4

Rule #5

RULE #5 (Moisture needs to be sealed in)

Water alone isn’t enough. After applying a leave-in conditioner, seal hydration with an oil or butter to keep hair moisturized longer, especially in dry climates.

RULE #6 (Protect your ends every day)

Ends are the most fragile part of your hair. Keep them tucked away in twists, braids, buns, or under protective styles to help retain length.

Rule #6

Rule #7

RULE #7 (Don’t overload on products)

More products don’t always mean better results. Too much layering can cause buildup. Focus on a few high-quality essentials that work well together..

RULE #8 (Be mindful with heat and tension)

High heat and tight styles can weaken strands over time. Limit flat ironing, avoid overly tight ponytails, and prioritize gentle styling whenever possible.

Rule #8

Rule #9

RULE #9 (Trim when your hair tells you)

Trims aren’t about losing length — they prevent splits from traveling upward. If your ends feel thin, rough, or constantly knotting, it may be time for a refresh.

RULE #10 (Hair love is lifelong, not a deadline)

Your hair journey is not a race. Progress looks like healthier strands, better retention, and confidence in your routine — not comparison or pressure.
